About
Ariel Han is a 2nd year Ph.D. student in the informatics department at the University of California, Irvine. She has been working at the Creativity Labs and advised by Professor Kylie Pepper. Ariel received her master’s degree in Entertainment Technology from Carnegie Mellon University and Information science, Industrial design, and Fine arts from Seoul National University.

Her research lies at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Learning Science, Data visualization, Educational Technology. With a background in design and software engineering, her focus is to create learning technology that benefits educators and learners to enhance educating the concept of engineering, computation, data literacy that encompass AI, ML, Data, robotics to support, cultivating future innovators and workers in the fast-paced changing nature of the industry that change how we live, consume, and learn every day.

Ariel is interested in developing educational technology that improves data visualization literacy by providing opportunities to explore the concept of data science, machine learning through designing educational programs that cover data visualization literacy, computation thinking, and statistical concepts with the integration of digital media, storytelling, gamification, and creative making processes.
